John O’Groats was opened over twenty five years ago by Robert and Angelica Jacoby. This dynamic husband and wife team dedicated themselves to providing the best breakfast and lunch available at competitive prices. The Jacobys opened John O’Groats from 7am to 3pm so the family could dine together in the evenings. Robert was the cook and Angelica was the “waitress with the heart of gold who remembered customers names after the first visit.” The original O’Groats location was a mere twenty seat counter with lines out the door. Their son, Paul Tyler, worked as a waiter on the weekends to provide assistance. Upon graduation from Loyola High School, Paul enrolled as a freshman at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. With an Ivy League education under his belt and a strong work ethic inherited from his parents, Paul returned to work hand in hand with his mother and father. By now O’Groats now seated 34 people with a shoe horn. Weekdays and weekends were packed!!! It was time to expand. The family decided to assume the adjacent property immediately doubling the capacity. The result was the same-packed weekdays and weekends!!!

The current capacity of John O’Groats is just over 105 people. The daily average is 300 on the weekdays and 600 on the weekends. Lauded by many as L.A.’s top breakfast, John O’Groats strives to be the best at what ever it does. We now do catering, banquet style dining and family dinners to go.
